Lightgun Lichtknarre > LK 11 – Corpsulator – Gunshell for 3D Printing
What is going on here?
Here you can find out all the information about a lightgun 3d print for the Wii remote which works with the Lichtknarre software and how to use lenses with it. If you don’t know what Lichtknarre is, take a look here:
https://geekonarium.de/en/lichtknarre-lightgun/
The Wii gun cradle for Lichtknarre is a 3D print and you can use it with the 4 and 2 LED tracker from Lichtknarre. If you don’t know what these trackers mean, have a look here:

Why not simply buy a guncradle?
This gun cradle is specially designed for Lichtknarre and has the following features:
- Complete casing of the Wii Remote. This is virtually invisible and does not need to be modified for 3D printing.
- Front attachments for lenses can be fitted to reduce the distance to the screen.
- Side buttons, which operate the A button, are built in for comfortable reloading during heated gaming sessions.
- Lockable opening for inserting the nunchuck.
- Matching holster for the gun cradle.
- Trigger mechanism with elastic band

Beta!
This guncradle is currently still a beta release. There will certainly be a few updates here and there.

How do I use the Wii with the gun cradle?
Simply remove the two rear latches and take off the top cover. Then push the Wii remote in from behind.

How does it work with the lenses?
The first step is to buy lenses. Standard smartphone lenses are used for this.
You find them all over online marked places! 0.67 wide lens is preferred.
At this point, you should already know which tracker plugin you are working with in Lichtknarre. To mount the lenses, refer to the gun cradle assembly instructions for Lichtknarre:

Calibration of the lenses with the 2 LED Tracker plugin
After you have fitted the lenses and calibrated the 2 LED tracker without the lens attachment, you will notice that the 2 LED no longer aims accurately. However, when you remove the lens again, everything is as before. This is due to the following setting:
The default lens scaling factor of the Wii is 2.16. Currently you can only use wide angle lenses. Fisheye or other lens types do not currently work.
Currently there is only a try and error method to find out the lens scaling factor. For this you always change the lens scaling factor by the trial value of 0.4 into the negative, because when you add a lens it goes more into the negative of the default value of 2.16 of the lens scaling factor and aim with the Wii at the screen from far away and close to it and in between. With each distance processing you also try to aim at the sides. If it has improved, you follow the direction, otherwise you invest the direction of the trial value. If the mouse no longer moves at all distances, you have found the right factor. Of course, you can also use smaller trial values for fine-tuning.
Since only the standard smartphone lens is actually used here, which has a magnification of 0.67, the lens scaling factor of 2.203 can be entered. Of course, it is possible that the lenses from different suppliers were not manufactured as consistently as the lens from the Wii camera and therefore differ more from each other. Spacing or other irregularities can contribute to this. This means that you can rely more on the default value without the lens than my value for the 0.67 lens. It would therefore be advisable to try a little more to see if everything fits with the lens scaling factor of 2.203 using the try and error method.
The lens may be at a different distance from the Wii camera, or other factors may cause the value to be slightly different.
The whole logic can still change here, as this topic is still under development.
Calibration of the lenses with the 4 LED Tracker plugin
The 4 LED Tracker plugin does not currently support a lens attachment. However, as the position here is more absolute, there may also be improvements if the lens attachment is fitted. However, the lens will be included in the tracking in future to improve the aiming accuracy. The lens factor setting will therefore be available. The calibration instructions will follow.
